
From February 12 to 16, the
Japan Society in New York City will be hosting six
screenings featuring a total of 38 early Japanese animation shorts. Each screening's shorts will be followed by a silent live-action feature film, and benshi narration for silent films will be performed by Midori Sawato. Most of the animation featured can be found on
Digital Meme's
Japanese Anime Classic Collection DVD set, with rare shorts dating from 1928 to 1950.
