Jeff Boman | The best thing for 2004 for me is simple: With December 7 came the release of season one of Gargoyles on DVD.

This series captured my imagination more than any other 10 years ago when it came on TV. As an animation scriptwriter, I was always amazed by the intelligence and sophistication used for the characters and their dialogue—even more amazing for a Disney show!

In another article here on fps, Emru Townsend spoke of this series' view as "American anime." The art style fit that idea, as did the maturity of the show. That Disney finally smartened up and released it on DVD is an amazing bit of fortune for us.
