009-1 Vol. 1
Fortunately, for agent 009-1 Mylene Hoffman, the tense relations between Eastern and Western factions of world political and military powers only make for more work. 009-1, a blonde femme spy of undivided loyalty to the Zero Zero Organization, is in the business of sex, bullets and butt kicking.

Short Takes: Frederator Films, Animatu, Teheran, Blast Off, Woody Woodpecker
There's once again talk of a Samurai Jack feature, but this time, rather more sensibly, it's to be animated, with creator Genndy Tartakovsky directing. Fred Seibert has launched Frederator Films (along with Kevin Kolde and Eric Gardner), with the aim of producing animated features for under $20 million.

A Platform Playlist

Upcoming Releases: July 2007 to October 2007
The first five seasons of Pee-wee's Playhouse drop on two DVDs this September; technically it's not animated, but there's a reason it's making its debut on Adult Swim this week—it contains the work of such notables as Prudence Fenton, Aardman Animations co-founders Peter Lord and David Sproxton, Phil Trumbo, Mitch Greenblatt, and... you know, I don't think there's any way to count them all.

Dave Hilberman, 1911-2007
Karl Cohen relays the passing of Dave Hilberman: "He was a Disney animator in the late 30s. He was active with the strike and was hated by Walt after it ended. Walt considered him a ringleader and denounced him in public at a House investigation of unAmerican activities in 1947."
